This is the first real woodworking project I’ve done in years. Every step was done on a pair of 50 plus year old shopsmith 10ER’s, one of which I learned basic woodworking skills on from my dad who bought it new in 1952. I designed it based on a couple of pieces I’ve seen and have plans available. I’m new enough here that I’m not sure if there’s a place to post them for interested people, but I will if I’m able to do that. Working with the old shopsmith is kind of a labor of love, as I can almost see my dad watching over me as I work.
By the way, I’m a lot better looking in person than in my picture. -SST

Nice job. Your dad should be proud of what he has passed on.

I have the same machine in my basement… bought it from a someone who’s father passed it down (before he moved cross country) a nice old piece of equipment. Very happy with it. I feel a sense of history and duty working with it… and with all its “tricks” It has helped me do some creative problem solving…

Lovely table, I like the taper in the legs, very graceful; reminds me of a ballerina. What kind of wood and how did you finish it?

Nice looking table, I almost bought a Shopsmith years ago, I think they cost about $350 at the time, but I couldn’t afford it.

By the way, what does SST stand for ? Super Sonic ?
