Router based dish made from cherry, padauk and purple heart. I’m having fun setting up my shop and learning with little things like this.

Looks really nice! I’m nearly finished “tooling up” and I’m looking for some projects. I might try my hand at something like this. What router bit/bits did you use? Keep up the good work!

A very nice dish and a great idea. I like the rounded edges on all four sides, a bandsaw will only give you two rounded edges on apposing walls.

Thanks guys. I used a round nose Freud bit- I think its a 3/8” radius I can’t recall. It worked OK although I had issues with the new bushing setup on my router.

Smoothing the bottom of the dish was a challenge. Luckily my ROS just barely fit inside making it easier to smooth most of the bottom.

I’m not sure how you would make something this deep if it were a solid piece, splitting it allowed me to route both top and bottom halves separately. If they were together the router bit would not have been deep enough.

Have your say...
