One thing I love about my shop is that I rarely have to move to do anything. I can stand in one spot and touch every tool in the shop. it is a fantastic way to work. but that is not enough! I WANT MORE!!! The chisels are kept in several blocks of wood with holes in them and that will just not do for me. On top of that, they are behind me when working at the bench. that means I have to turn around to grab one. That is just too much work for a lazy hand tool guy!
I want them at my bench! But one of the things I love about my bench is that it is open all around it and I can have things hanging off of any side so if chisel handles stick up higher then the bench I would hit them all the time. That is one of the reasons I do not have a tool slot. Then on top of all of that, they need to be kept safe from kids as all three of my kids are in the shop with me every day.
So I want to be able to store all my chisels at the bench in a tool slot but be able to quickly remove them while keeping the kids safe from the tips. and to top it all off in must be carved!
So here is what I came up with!

Besides the awesome carving, this is a great idea which I plan to copy. I have the tool slot and when i need the whole bench, they end up in a pile.
Great idea, and great carvings not only on this piece, but the others in the picture.
