This is an entry door made of cherry from a single tree. The slabs were purchased at a saw mill in Elkton, MD name Second Chance Hardwoods. The door was made based on an article for a green door in Fine HomeBuilding. The door is 3’ thick and weights in around 200lbs. Custom hardware was purchased for this door. The door was finished with a marine varnish (Epifanes satin). The window is a triple pane window that is slightly darkened. The door uses insulation in its inner core along with Tyvek and foam gaskets for weather seals.

Wow, that is a very impressive door. How did you apply the marine varnish? Looks like you got a very even sheen.

That is outstanding. An entry door is a gutsy project; kudos.

This is a beautiful entry door! Looks like a lot of work went into it, and it has certainly paid off! Lucky you getting to come home to it every night!
