Utility Room Cabinets

Added cabinets to the utility room in our home. I had some extra plywood and 1×8 pine from a set of garage shelves I took salvaged. I was able to make the doors from the shelf stock by making glue-up panels and running them across the table saw at an angle to creates the coped panel edges. After some sanding and adding the frames, they came out nicely. I just wanted to see if I could make frame and panel doors without the expensive special shaping and router bits. The other cool thing is the French cleat wall attachment method. It would probably hold half a ton of weight. Once I framed around the cleat and painted it and shelves were added, you can’t tell there is a French cleat at all. Make some quarter round molding with a standard router bit and cabinets are done. It’s just that easy…

great use of the wood – looks good
I’m a big fan of french cleats too – i use to hang signs and art work all the time

That’s a real nice set of cabinets. I bet they are very much appreciated by the Boss. You did a mighty fine job.
