I finally finished this guy. It had about 5 coats of old paint and was a complete wreck. I tried to keep as much character flaws as possible while making the table really sturdy. With the help I found here from several members I was able to pull it off.
I just started in the woodworking arena again. I did small things as a child with my father and grandfather. After dad unexpectedly passed I wanted to get back into woodworking using his tools (you know, the whole symbolic thing) and it’s been fun, at time frustrating, but I’m glad I’m doing it again. I’ve made several cutting boards, and some other smaller items and people seem to really enjoy them.

Thanks for all the help!

nice work, and welcome “back” to woodworking! I always enjoy seeing projects like this, mixing the old with the new.
