Another refurb, all the oak was rotted so I replaced it with cedar, and some spar varnish. Striped all the iron painted that came out pretty nice. I think this originally came from a box store or something nothing on it square real pain. But its got some sentimental value to the owner. Also the slats are 7/8 by 2.75 wide. So underneath the bench I bolted 2 by 2 by1/4 inch aluminum angle iron. slats are on top angle is on bottom bolt runs through both so there is a 1/4 inch gap between the slat and the angle. That way water doesn’t get trapped in there and the slats have a little bit of give when you sit. I stood on it and walked around on it no problems.
