Mini Tackle Box

While I was working on my last project I got the idea of making a small tackle box for when I go fishing with live bait. Basically all I use are ass’t hooks and weights for that type of fishing. Instead of carrying around a tackle box of any size (and I have a few) I decided to make something small just for the occasion. I had to cut small grooves in the dividers for the HF pliers I use in case they swallow the hook.
It’s made out of locust with a padauk frame on top and bottom. All from scraps laying around. It has some red tint from the locust but the picture doesn’t really show it. I made a raised panel for the top for kicks. I can just imagine what the guys will say when they see this. Probably say it won’t help you catch fish. ha ha ha.
It’s approx 7’ wide 3’’ h and 4’’ deep. Finished with urethane. Let’s go fishing.

Good job sir

I’m with everyone else.

The story sounds fishy to me, but it’s still a BEAUTIFUL box. :-)

Funny Monte, my daughter said she wants one.

Right Joe, fishing use to be simple at one time. Too many gadgets now.

Ralbuck, you think maybe it will bring me luck?

Thanks John. A couple trips and it will smell fishy.

nalij, good idea, I should make one for my grandson. His first tackle box.

Thanks mike1950.

Good idea. You will get some orders. Just think, it will float. Way to fancy for my fishy hands.

One thing about being a woodworker – even commonplace things end up looking like they are ready for an art show!

Good job and you better make something for the wife too.

looks cool, I like the cutouts for the pliers, too. A place for everything and everything in its place!

That’s a very nice box, Dave. What do “the guys” know, anyhow? I’m reminded of a group of “guys” I worked with at one time. One would yell, “Dammit, Mark! Get on with it! It’s not a piano!” And then the wiser one among them would say, “Maybe we’d all do well to act like it’s a piano. She coulda been, had we done ‘er right.”

Very nice box and not too nice to take fishing since fishing is always a special time and deserves this kind of gear .
Now I don’t see a carrying handle and you should make a proper box clamping jig .
This box would also look good with a trophy fish mount when you catch it .

When I saw the box and title I couldn’t imagine this in a boat with water splashing in and the way I use to go fishing in Northern Wisconsin. That being said I had thoughts similar to Klaus.

Paduk for a fish and tackle box. Nice jump! LOL!

On the other hand when people spend 25 K for a fishing boat? This would be a nice addition!
