This was a fun project I made for my neighbor’s annual Beer Olympics. They proposed the question of if I could

make a mega version of the game Battleship, after a few discussions and brainstorming sessions I agreed. Making the

game boards were relatively easy besides drilling and cleaning up 200 holes! Where I really spent my time was on

the game pieces. Initially I had no game plan on how to make these I just knew that i wanted them to be awesome!

Once I figured out some basic designs, I drove head into it, where I found that my main weapon of choice was an

angle grinder with 36grit discs…I used this to shape all the ships hulls, and then added the little characteristics that

helped make up their iconic look.

I love it. Do the turrets rotate? The submarines are great. It would be nice if the bottom board had holes too… wouldn’t you like to drill and clean another 200? Of course pegs would ruin the play value of the ships apart from the game.

Always loved that game and one that big would be way cool and super fun to play.

This might become very popular. It’s very creative and looks like a lot of fun.

Thank you for the kind words,
ayryq—I was going to make the turrets rotate but I was running out of time…

Hi! Have you ever considered making this again for sale? I’d be interested.

Have your say...
