I decided to make everyone Christmas gifts this year. It’s not since my glass blowing days, rock tumbler, or wood burning that I’ve made so many gifts.
The excavator is out of Wood magazine like other’s have shown on here. It’s for my 20 month old son Ryan. It showed me that I need a planer, band saw and jointer. I resawed the pieces on my table saw. Hi name is in bloodwood.
The cutting boards (first ever) are maple, bloodwood and some walnut from the former project. I have heard about the bloodwood alergies…and it has been noted but not observed.
My wife wanted a clothes drying rack in our laundry room. I took out a wall and door from a closet in there to make a bump-in and mounted this drying rack in the back. It folds down to hang enough laundry and is only 3/4” thick when folded up. I used some strong magnets to hold it on the wall although it barely needs it.
The toy cubby is my wife’s new years gift. After my son got a butt load of toys… We now have a trampoline in the formal living room beside her baby grand piano. She wanted storage in the family room. I made something similar in our shed and adapted it to our family room. It’s only MDF painted black. It was basically free with the stuff I had around. It will get beat up and is not designed to be an heirloom…just functional. My son loves it because he can see all of his stuff instead of it being in the bottom of a basket.
So that’s what I made everyone. I’ll be posting a review of the Wixey table saw fence and a new planer soon.
-- some day I hope to have enough clamps to need a clamp cart!
