This box has been partially built for about 2 years and just laying in the shop. I didn’t like the way the tiger maple looked on the outside. The walnut burl is beautiful but it just didn’t look right on the box as it was. Just recently receiving some suede, I decide to cover the outside with it. The walnut hinges are handmade and they were also just setting around. Basically, I had all these pieces laying around for years and it all just came together today. It measures 12 X 7 X 2 1/2 and is finished with an orange beeswax. Thanks for the looks and comments.

That is gorgeous!
Love the colors and the grain of the walnut.

I was almost fooled with the suede at first, blends in well. Nice set of hinges. I have to work on them a bit and try to get as good as the rest of you guys.

I like it, interesting and different .
The top shape and grain works perfectly with the box .
