3 Runic signs I made for myself. The small vertical one is Alaskan cottonwood bark, the other two are reclaimed cedar fence boards done on the scroll saw. I loved the old weathered look of the fence boards so I kept the patina on the wood so the cut out section would show a nice natural contrast. I used a wood burner to mark the runes on the largest sign. From right to left around the loop I spelled out the words “Let the energy flow here” using the rune equivalent of English letters.

Now those are really nicely done. Great composition in the designs, and meanings.

Really cool. So, you transliterated, rather than translated. You could probably find an actual translation, in which case, any 800 year-old Norseman would know what it says. What say you, Druid? My Dad’s only 633-1/2 (in dog years), so, he likely wouldn’t, though we are of Norse descent.

Well, I like all 3 signs and the skill demonstrated in their creation. Good work once again.

Ok seriously guys? I posted this project to show something I made for myself and to share it with others. I appreciate your compliments, but i feel like I’m being told “It’s nice but you did it wrong”. The Runic alphabet I used here was the Elder futhark. I use the runes in wards and and signs, and also for divination as I make my own Rune sets as well. If I’m interpreting your comments the wrong way I completely apologize. Since you can’t hear tone of voice, interpreting text posts can sometimes be difficult for me.

I’ve come back several times to look at your 3 signs, and I realized that I had not mentioned your carving on the knot work of the “Let the energy flow here” sign. That’s another detail that adds a lot to the quality of your work.
Please do not feel that anything about these signs is “wrong”. They were all done beautifully and correctly. I really like to see projects where the “old ways” are being kept alive.

Very nicely done. As a scroller, I can appreciate the work. I like the use of the weathered wood although your neighbors might want to watch out if they have a wood fence.
