Project Information

A Friend of mine asked for a storage bench, and a wider table for his summerhouse.

His initial drawing of what he wanted:


Construction of the legs:


The full frame:


The hinged oak seating is glued on, with 6 large Dominos to hold it in place:


Joinery:


The final result:


Wood: Regular pine for the frame, and sides. Oak for seat.

Coating: 3 Layers of Linseed oil

Joinery: Halflap and crosslap joints

Measurements: 178×46 x 48 cm

The table is 180×90 cm. with 5 mm rounded edges top and bottom. Legs are from Hays

Nice. I like seeing the hand drawn sketch on the photo. Cool idea for a quick mock-up

A few more precise measurements was needed before I could build anything. :-D

We also desided against a backrest, as the hinges would have to be moved closer to the front, to allow the lid to stay open by it self.

Nice - fits very nicely in that space.
