So what do you do when it’s Sunday evening and you discover a need
for a flush cutting saw but don’t have one? You take a hacksaw blade and grind half the teeth off using the
side of the grinder wheel then polish it up on a couple of grits of
wet-or-dry sand paper. The day I needed it tape sufficed for the handle. A piece of 3/4”
dowel, a short length of 3/4” copper tube and a piece of nail makes a
much nicer handle but took longer to put together than grinding the
blade did. This used an 18 tooth hacksaw blade but a 24 or 32 tooth blade
will be easy and I’ll never need to worry about sharpening it. Just
replace it. As they say, “Necessity is the mother of invention.”
