Being an amature wine maker and professional winery builder as well as a woodworking nut, I alway am on the lookout of different ways to present special wines. As a gift, or just to display.

This is a piece I created. I started with some Claro Walnut, harvested from a dead tree in a firends front yard. I used mostly highly figured woods from the root ball. I machined the wood to 5/8” on the base, 1” x 1” for the handle, and 7/16” on the two ‘loop’s. The finishing started with sanding to 400, then #0000 steel wool. Two coast of Tung oil were followed by the three-step buffing process.

I made 8 of these for Christmas gift the season. Altho I showed commercial wines in these pictures, each of the gifted units contained one bottle each of my 2007 Cabernet and 2008 Zinfandel red wines.

Very unusual Idea… as I only drink wine from cardboard… of no use to me… but a nice job just the same..

Awww Degoose you killing me! I like it, very different and you are thinking out side the box! Yes wine does come in bottles as well. LOL I think some contrating colored wood could really add some more interest to it.
