A cedar tree was cut down on my sister in-laws property and she offered me the wood. I made her a bowl to thank her and I made my wife one because she liked it so much. We like that the fact that there is still bark on it and a hole that runs through the wood; it adds a rustic touch. We fill the bowl with fruit and keep it in the middle of our dining room table.

The bowl measures 12 1/2” in diameter and 5” tall. The finish is 3 coats of polyurethane.

Wow, I can see why your wife would want one for herself, the colors in the wood are beautiful.

Fantastic turning. Love that color of the grain. The bark inclusion gives it a lot of chaarector also. Always good to give a present back from donated wood. They appriciate it even more.

Keep up the great work.

Man that is a great colorful bowl. It is nice to get a piece of wood with such natural color. You did a beautiful job on it and it should be proudly displayed!

Caught this on ‘Roll the dice’

Incredible, awesome and beautiful don’t measure up in comparison to your bowl! I never thought I could see those colours without some level of tinting.

Beautiful! I have access to some cedar but I don’t think it is large enough for bowls. The hole in the side eliminates it for soup and chili. ;)

Have your say...
