This is made of pine and fir, and the ply is birch. Finish is one coat of Minwax Dark Walnut stain, then one coat of Minwax Red Oak stain. Final finish was 3 coats with General Finishes Arm-R-Seal, Oil and Urethane, Satin (which I highly recommend). I sanded lightly between the first two coats of Urethane.

This was my design based on our needs in an end table. The sliding basket that you see is cut into four sides from one continuous piece of metal shelving. It is on a plywood base that is on rollers. This will serve as a laundry basket. I made this basket because it was the only way I could utilize the full space inside that opening.

I really like the pull-out storage idea… without it you’d have to roll out of bed to search for stuff inside.. Yah. great idea!

Beautiful design/wood/finish.

Very nice!

Maybe that would help my kids keep dirty clothes off the floor.

Thanks for the comments so far. We used to have a large laundry basket next to our old/smaller side table, but decided to incorporate the basket into the table for this.

Have your say...
