Found a picture of my fireplace mantle. Stole some of the veneer from my kitchen. Substrate is plywood and MDF. Finish is Velvit Oil. Granite hearth and surround. When we bought the house, the entire wall (15+ ft) was covered in dirty old red brick. This looks a little better.

Looks a LOT better (and I never did see the brick). That veneer is beautiful.

That’s absolutely beautiful. I bet it’s a nice change to go from red brick to the clean lines that this project displays. well done. The maple and black granite is a great combination, great minds think alike….I have maple cabinets with black granite coutertops.

It’s actually birch, not maple.

Nice Job, the black granite really makes the whole thing pop!
