Started building this when My daughter was 4 months pregnant. She had the baby 3 months premature (6 month mark) but all are well and now my grand daughter is 5 months old. I built this Rocking Orca whale from a Bild plan. It’s constructed of birch plywood. Smoothedand rounded all corners, sanded the entire thing smooth. I then put on a couple coats of west systems epoxy to seal the wood and be able to sand it glass smooth. Painted it with good ole Krylon and then 3 layers of clear coat. Only thing I did different from the plan was to mount the whale to the base with Lag bolts instead of 3” long wood screws. My daughter is in the military and the lag bolts make it so it can be disassembled. Other change was to give it big wobble eyes, they move when it rocks.

My granddaughters room theme is northwestern whales so Orcas are a perfect addition. Of course she is to small now to ride it but it’s a visual thing she looks at now.

Hadn’t seen a whale rocker before but really nice and just got to love it.
She’ll be a whale lover from the start.

I really love this rocking whale!
If had some grandkids, mine are all to old, I would really build one of these.
I am sure it will be loved and fit into her room decor.
