This is a Kestral Falcon that I just finished carving. It is life size about 12 inches or so and made from Basswood.

Great job, wish I could carve like that.
The American Kestrel Falcon is one of my favorite birds. I was given a captive one to take care of when I was a kid. It had an injured wing and when it healed I released it.

Awesome. That is very lifelike…..I have just started carving myself and will someday try something as difficult. The texturing and color is excellent…

Did you use a pic or model for the bird? How long did it take you….

Thanks everyone.
I am not happy with the paint job on it so I have to keep practicing my painting. My wife tells me I am my worse critic. lol
