This is a full size Captain’s bed. There are four large drawers (2 on each side) and a pass through opening on the bottom of the bed. The build itself was fairly simple. The only challenge on this one was matching the finish to other pieces in the room. It was painted black, distressed some and then given a couple coats of different colored stain. The final look is kind of country rustic and it looks well used despite being brand new. Best of all, it matched everything else in the room.

That’s really nice looking. Sure looks solid and stout.

Hey, the wood accents are a great compliment to the painted surfaces. VERY well done.

How does it “sleep?” Does having the mattress on a platform feel different from a box spring?

It sleeps like any other bed. The way that it sleeps is really more about the quality of the mattress since most lower priced box springs are really just boxes anyway.

What is the deck made from? Is that pegboard?

Yes, it is peg board over the frame. I wanted to make sure that there was still some air circulation under the mattress.
