This is a puzzle box made from bloodwood; the letters are made from ebony with an accent of yellowheart. The box is 5 inches by 9 inches and 2 and 3/4 inches tall. It is made with sliding dovetails and a locking pin. The finish is satin water varnish, and I lined the bottom with black velvet. The letters are my wife’s initials.

I love the rich color of the bloodwood. Nice job.

-- While teaching a class, a gentlemen once asked me: "When chip carving an intricate design, what do you do when you are almost finished and the wood breaks off?" I replied "Cover the kids ears."
