I made these two boxes—one for each of my brothers-in-law, for Christmas. It was kind of a metaphor: two very beautiful people, but cut from the same (genetic) “fabric”. Hinges were made out of brass rod and scrap pieces of bloodwood and padauk. The cloth came from India via JoAnn’s fabrics. I could never understand why someone would make a nice box and then put some “pleather” material on the bottom. I say that fabric on the bottom is another opportunity to integrate the colors.
