I made this box to try out some finger jointing and domino jointing for shallow timber. So happened a person my wife worked with had to return to Ireland to care for a family member who had cancer. I suggested that she might like this box made of all Australian timber as a memento. She loved it and so did her mother went she got to Ireland. Not its afamily Heirloom.
Really feels good when you give someone some joy.

Hey Rob, welcome to LJ’s.

You must be a fellow Aussie, but you might not know that I just love small wooden boxes, and this one’s special; made from Huon Pine, my favorite wood. (I use the term wood so my US Mates will know what I’m talking about. LOL)

Hope you have more to show us.

Great box and some of Don’s favorite timber.

Rob your Timber selection and craftsmanship are very good – you also appear to have a generous spot in your heart – welcome to the Forum.

Don must be in his glory – a fellow Aussie that makes small boxes – what more could he ask for???

Beautiful box! I really like the red gum wood. Is that an Australian species?

I’ll bet Don is quivering just a bit with a fellow mate to jabber with about boxes. I tell you Rob,and yes welcome to the LJs, no one knows boxes better than old Don, except maybe old Karson, or old Dick with his new Ricon meat saw. Well lets hope not. Yes, beautiful box, coming from a good heart. jockmike
