I threw together a small cheese style cutting board about 5/8” thick and about 7” x 12” wide. My Mother-in-law was visiting. She was always asking my wife what I was doing in the basement. So I needed to create a small useful wood item she could easily carry in her luggage back to London. I have made several full size cutting boards in a similar style. This is black walnut, cherry, maple, and paduk. I always use wood which gives me as much as possible quarter sawed top and bottom surface. She said she isn’t going to use it, rather hang it an the wall as a display. I think she liked it. Finished to about 400 grit with a food safe mineral oil and beeswax.
-- Once the dust settles, breath and behold the beauty of the wood.

Can’t see how she couldn’t like it! It’s lovely.
