I was upgrading the flooring in my house with oak hardwood flooring. In 2 of the bedrooms there was white melamine built in bookshelves (Sorry didn’t think to take pictures of old unit). Well they just clashed with the hardwood floor so what are you going to do? Hey I am a woodworker lets build new shelves. I posted the spare bedroom shelves 2 years ago. Couldn’t go south this winter so put the heat on in the shop and started working and 8 weeks later it was complete. The shelves are inspired by some shelves I saw in a Woodsmith magazine Vol. 31 / No. 185. This was a fun project as it was 60” wide X 96” high and 15” deep. LOML wanted glass sliding doors on the bottom 3rd. So I heavily modified the plans and came up with what you see in the first picture. Second pic shows what I started with the rest of the pics show the progression. The last pic shows the dentil and crown moulding detail. I made all the moulding myself. The wood is ash and ash veneer stained with Minwax Jacobean 2750 and Minwax wipe-on poly. Now on to the next project after spring cleaning is complete.

Great job ToughCut..love how the grain in the back board pops out and the dentil, the crown, and soft edges is a nice touch. A project of this size usually tell you how square your house is lol. I think it’s a keeper.
