A nice project to help hone a few skills I have been working on. Making box joints and carving.
The bead box was made for a Christmas gift. It is made up of Oak frame box jointed at the ends. The one long side is a slide out drawer that is inter-laced with birch ply making the small compartments for the beads. It is roughly held by magnets.
The top is pine with the carved flower and a boarder make with a router. I routed the boarder so the beads can sit in the groove when making a necklace.
The oak was finished with a walnut stain and the pine with BLO. All covered with a few coats of wiping poly.

Very nice carving. The groove for holding the beads is a great idea.

Great Job, Jeff!! I can see where that groove would be darn useful…and is also nicely ornamental, acting as a border for your carving… Smart Thinking!!

Fantastic bead box. My sister in law makes necklaces. She has bead boxes and the plates? for lineing up the beads. Nothing as fancy or nice as this is. Very nice design and build.
Keep it up.

Very nice! It’s hard to make a carving look really good on a box. but you did a great job. Congratulations.
