Pair of Japanese nightstands I made for a friend that likes that style, wood is Marea and a fairly hard wood, I posted a picture of it unstained when I was assembling them to show. It was assembled entirely with dominoes that I made myself from the same wood as I find Festools prices a bit high especially after shipping them down here..

nice job – I prefer the natural wood – but the stain looks nice -

I don’t like the stain either but as the customer requests, kinda makes sense as far as the Japanese style goes.

Wayne, they really look nice and different. Could you please tell a bit about how you joined the pieces….screwed & glued or hidden dovetails?

No screws, I used Festool dominoes (about 5 8 mm for the unsupported top) to attach it and the rest was also constructed with dominoes as well, all solid wood and quite heavy. I made my dominoes under the back bottom edge of the top shelf and into the top of the back vertical of the nightstand. Extremely strong connection that would easily support a large lamp. Dowels would probably be quite strong as well but more difficult to lay out and drill exact locations.
