A fellow doc needed a TV cabinet and book shelves to go in the living room next to his fireplace but did not want to necessarily have permanent built in cabinets. I needed a project and came to his rescue (as it were.) Nothing fancy but I was pleased with the final project. Cabinet construction is from 3/4” oak ply. It is good quality full 3/4” from a specialty wood store in Kansas City. The doors are custom order from some really nice folks in Hot Springs, AR. The face frames are cut form 3/4” oak. The cabinet tops are glue up of 5’4 oak. I did the staining with Minwax Golden Oak. A local shop I use a lot did lacquer.
As of this posting, he hasn’t seen them in his house yet as he was in Texas with his family when I took them over. Hope he likes them!

Nice job, bro. I saw them when I was there for the game a couple of weeks ago. They changed drastically. Now all you have to do is come see me and I will find all kinds of projects for you.

I am sure he will love them. They look sturdy – and he can take them with him if he moves.

Excellent work! I’d love to do something similar in my living room. I have a similar hearth configuration.
