Sorry that I have been away for a while. I was involved with a suicide car bomb that went off about 300 yards from me on Sept 17th and rained hot metal down on me from the vehicle that exploded. I was hit in the head with a chunk of the car and then got in a gun fight. Gunfights are fun while your shooting hand is in a cast. I have gotten super busy lately trying to get some stuff accomplished while still supporting the elections over here in Afghanistan. Tomorrow, I will hit the 2-months-left mark, so I am looking forward to going home soon.

The Colonel who runs my shop wanted me to build a message organizer for the office. Since we are out and about a good portion of the time, he wanted a place where he could just put messages to the different departments in a slot for pickup later. I only had a few hours to work on it and my busted hand was causing all kinds of issues trying to cut a straight line while holding two switches to work the saw. One of the pictures shows me and my happenin’ workshop.

The plywood I was able to find was warped, so I did the best I could. The paper coated pressboard keeps the papers from snagging and giving people splinters when they reach in to get a message.

That’s a great project under the circumstances!

I thought I had some tough days, but at least I don’t have to deal with hot metal rain and people shooting at me. Thanks for your service.

Hot Metal Raining sounds like a rock band.

Under the circumstances, that’s one helluva a message center.

Keep that coconut low Dawg!!!

Looks like you are making the best of the workspace and materials available, and making life/work better for the people around you.

Be safe.

No need to appologize, I think it is fair to say you had good reason. I hope you last 2 months pass quickly and you get home safe.

Looks functional and serves it’s purpose. You did well with what you have to work with, plus the cast. Stay safe and get home soon! Thank you for service to your country.
