Made these pens for a former pastor and his wife. They were honored this past Sunday for 45 years of service. They are Seirra kits with a religous theme. I wanted to make a nice pen set, but didn’t think acrylic would be appropriate. A local pen turner helped me out with a supply of Bethlehem Olive wood and instructions for a C/A finish. Never had done this before, but will do it again. I did not realize you can make wood look like acrylic! My thanks to Hans for his help. Comments and critiques welcomed.

Nice pens. That Bethlehem Olive is nice wood and is hard to get your hands on sometimes. THey should really love them. I like the Sierra pens.

Nice looking pens. I am sure they will appreciate them. Don’t you just love the way Olivewood smells when you turn it?

Where did you get these kits? I have been looking for them since I saw these pens and have had no success. Thanks.

Thanks for the comments. Got a call from my Pastor and he and his wife really liked the pens. And yes Hix, olive wood smells much nicer.

I like the deep look of the olive wood. Very impressive.

You will get adicted to using CA for wood finish. It deepens the grain and is quite durable. Just be careful to keep it away from Acetone.

Very nice pens Rick, I love the olive wood and the smell as you turn it, very good finnish as well.
Nothing is ever too nice for your pastor, they deserve the best.
