I made a couple of these excavators from Wood Magazine. The finished one is for my nephew for Christmas and the other is for my wife. Why your wife you ask? She is a children therapist and she uses toys as part of the Childs therapy.

That is very nicely made! Compliments, I am sure that the children will love it!

I thought about making those. Were they difficult? Did they take a long time?

No they are quite easy to build as long as you are patient. Sometime that’s tough for me, but I am getting better at it. Most of the work is done on the band saw. That’s one of the reason I bought the rigid belt/spindle sander. That baby was a life saver. If I had to do all that by hand I would be done next Christmas. I would say you could nock one out in almost a weekend.

I’m 60 going on 7… can I have one of those nicely done and well built toys?
