I built this box for my son to keep his memories in. It is half white oak and half walnut. The measurements are roughly 10×13x9. I cut a 1/4 inch dado for the bottom to fit in and a 1/4 inch rabbet on the bottom. There is weather proofing foam in the dado to prevent the bottom from rattling. The trim around the top is a rabbet joint also. Obviously the corners are through dovetails. It has 3 coats of wipe on poly. Thanks for looking, all comments are welcome.

That’s one nice clean build.
He’ll put many a strange to us thing in there over the years.

Jason, this is a nice job. I like the mitered top and contrasting sides. It looks sturdy enough to hold up to the challenge for the first few years and long beyond that. The picture of him on the box is a real keeper. Sometime down the line it should be mounted inside the lid. Thanks for sharing this with us. Keep boxing and keep posting.

I love this. Really cool idea and slick build for the little guy.
