I saw someone post some DIY skateboards on this forum a few months ago. They inspired me to make one. I did more research and possibly went a bit overboard and made a press to create a concave and tail for the birch deck.

This was a present for my 7 year old nephew for Christmas. I plan on trying some longboard skateboards for my older nephews and myself :)

Looks like it turned out well, but it is a very unconventional shape. I’ve been a skater for almost 30 years, and have seen the evolution of deck design. If your nephew tries to learn on something unconventional, if he does end up liking the sport he may develop some habits that won’t transfer to a conventional board design.
