Over Christmas break I decided to build myself a laptop case, I happened to see one on YouTube, which inspired me to build this one. The whole body is made out of cherry, which I specially chose and glued together to show the sap wood accents. My mother happens to be a quilter, so I was able to find a quilt block that I thought would be easy and used that as by design. Surprisingly the easiest part of the inlay was the compass in the center, the borders took a lot more time than the center did. On the inside, I lined it with black felt and hot glued it into place. This piece will be an heirloom for a long time, (as long as my laptop survives college, haha)
I have made a video of this on YouTube, please feel free to check it out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XlXW_0v8OZc

Thanks, Christian.

Nice. That case will surely outlast your laptop. Wish I had time to watch the whole video.

Incredible inlay work. This box worth more than laptop itself. Beautiful geometricla shape on top.
