I made these doors approximately in 1970, so they’re are almost antique already. LOL

The 5/4 Birch material was salvaged from a workbench at a wooden leg factory that had shut down.

The only tool I had at the time was a Wards Powercraft Radial arm saw. It had a 25,000 spindle that could be used as a shaper, or router.

I can’t even remember the joints I used for the Rails, & Styles, but whatever I did, I guess I did all right, because they haven’t come apart yet.

I used Masonite with stick on “Contact” for the panels.

I used a Macassar colored jelled stain, It was something new at the time. They have a satin poly finish.

Well what ever you did Dick – It worked – Over 35 years of daily use and they are still strong and attractive.

This is the kind of project that I like – simple, does the job, and lasts the test of time.

Thanks Jocks!!
I just took a closer look, & I drove dowells in after glue up. That’s the only way I knew at the time I guess.

Missed this first time around Dick. A great job. and the test of time is the proof of construction. If everything that we bought today lasted 35 years we wouldn’t have a great excuse to tell the other half. I can make that and it will last better than what you can buy today.
