I got tired of changing the expensive dustbags for my Festool CT26 vac and decided to build a cyclone separator.
I chose the ClearVue Mini CV06 separator for this build. I buildt the dustbox from some OSB that I had laying around the shop. I used glue and bradnails to hold it together. Then I just cut the top off to make a lid.
On the inside of the lid I glued and nailed on a “skirt” of 6mm plywood and sealed the box with double weatherstripping tape. With four tight fitting latches the box is completly airtight.
I did’nt have the right size dusthose, but i had some 3” dusthose laying around. To get it to work with the vac and the cyclone I had to make some adapters. The openings on the vac and on the cyclone was 57mm, so i made a wooden ring that was 57mm inner diameter and would fit snugly inside a 3” drainpipe. Inside the wooden ring I nailed a piece of pipe that I had splitted lengthwise so it would fit inside my 57mm adapter.
The base of the box fits on the CT26 systainer lock on top so it is easy to take the assembly on and off the CT.
