A few years ago we lost a huge 100+ year old red oak tree on our farm in a wind storm, at the time I didn’t think much of it and sawed the tree into firewood for the shop. 5 years later I made it to the bottom of the fire wood pile and thought that the oak looked too good to burn, so I split some blanks from the firewood and made up a coupe fly boxes on the router table…I only wish I would have saved more of the oak! Boxes use a inset leather hinge and magnets to hold closed.

Those are really sweet. Did you use carpet to hook the flies too?

Very nice, these are on my project list. The oak is super, with some history.

I used cork sheeting that you can get at Lowes.
