Any one who knows me, knows I cringe when it comes to scrap, I hate seeing it go to waste. So out of the scrap bin the Iphone blue tooth speaker is born. So the other day I dumped out my scrap bin determining what is still usable vs what is truly scrap. So I came across a couple pieces, and after a few minutes of debating what I could possibly make with them, they were to small for a shelf, then I got the bright idea to take the smaller piece and match it with my phone to see if it was wide enough, so then i took the smaller piece and laid it on top of one of the bigger pieces grabbed my blue tooth speaker and set it on top scribed a line to trim off.. so I took the piece that was going to be the bottom over to the table saw and squared it up and trimmed it to the size i wanted, then over to router table, using a 3/4 dado bit, I made the opening for the phone first, tested the fit, made a second slightly deeper pass, so the phone would sit in just deep enough to be stable. Then i took the other piece and routed it a little bit for the speaker and phone holder to nestle in. then a rabbeted the other piece and attached it, after wards i place two key hole slots on the backboard so i could hang it on the wall, and take it down if i wanted to use it in the basement.
