Thanks folks. I mostly lurk here these days (and answer PMs), but thought it was high-time to post something. Glad you all like the piece.

That’s amazing work, must have taken forever. I wish there were more pictures of the details. What finish do you use on the tiger maple?

The interior of the desk has serpentine drawers and fluted columns on either side of the tombstone prospect door. Sorry, I am not sure where the interior photos ended up. The finish is aniline dye, followed by homemade oils stain to make the stripes pop and a bunch of coats of shellac that are rubbed out and waxed at the end.

Chuck,
We’ve missed you on here. It’s always good to see your outstanding work. And we, like others, would love to see more pictures.

Hey Chuck. I just met you at the NE Woodworking Show. I sat in on your handcut dovetail session and I asked you what magazine I may have seen you in. Also, I am the guy who entered the coopered lid chest in the showcase contest. I hope something there triggers your memory. Congratulations on this project. It’s absolutely stunning.

Chuck, A fantastic looking piece. The wood just pops and keeps your eyes moving around.
