A small step stool I made for my sister as a housewarming gift. I wanted it to be strong and she likes bright colors so purpleheart had to be involved. I used ash as the primary wood to make the color of the purpleheart pop more.

The top was my first try a book matching a panel. Not sure if I ever want to do that again. I’m a hand-tool guy and got a little frustrated that I was planing against the grain on one side but with the grain on the other side. I’m sure a better tuned hand plane would have helped.

I think I met the strength criteria I set for myself; after finishing this I felt like I could park my car on it.

I’m pretty sure WOW isn’t sufficient but I can’t think of anything stronger to say other than it’s is really striking. I believe you accomplished your goal
Did I say I really like it ?

Those purplehearth inserts made this just ordinary design stool into something awesome and special. Those joints are realy great.
