A pair of cornhole boards made for tailgating and backyard BBQs last summer.
A simple 2ft by 4ft frame with a 3/4” Ply. Drew out a rough outline of the buffalo skyline for the first board and the standing buffalo logo for the second board. Finished with 3 coats of poly and roughed up with some 120 to give the board some tack.
After carrying these around to tailgates, campsites and BBQs it was clear I needed to reduce the weight of these boards.
I have switched to planing down 2x material to a true 1” with a cross brace to make the frame. The cross brace gives the frame more rigidity and allows me to use 1/2 ply to reduce weight without having a “bouncy” board while playing. To reduce wait further subsequent boards were made with final dimensions of 2ft by 3ft. This makes them much more portable and easier to fit in the trunk of a car.
