My first attempt at any chest, gift for my niece wedding. No screws or nails except for hardware, all box joints and dowels. All oak was free, found it piled up by railroad, cribbing for ties I guess. This is my first post, more to come I hope. Took me about a week to cut, glue and sand, another few months to find hardware I liked and finish. Thanks looking. I’m a beginner with limited tools.

Very nice. I like your design. It is nice be able to find your materials for free.

I like the way you made those joints. It’s incredible what man can do with some scrap wood – brand new object. Hardware is the top of this project – make this chest even better.

Nice box, and the corners was a really good idea.
