After reading the blog by Marty Backe, I wanted to try making a small box like his. His Youtube Videos are excellent in show how to make these.

This box is made of walnut for the sides, maple top and bottom and the small inlay is yellow heart. The box is about 1-1/4” x 1-3/8” x 3/4”. The material is 1/8” thick and the corner joints were made using a plane to form the miter joints. Finishing was done with wax.

Nice. I like the variation of the strip of inlay going thru the side and top & bottom. Oh, and the wax-only finish. That’s often all you need for these little boxes.

Have your say...
