Project Information
Shortly before Christmas I had the urge to turn something. My wife had wanted a knitting bowl for a while (one without the hole drilled into it) so I found some YouTube videos and gave it a shot. It's my first bowl on a lathe and I need to practice getting the inside smooth. My wife says good enough but it definitely needs more work.
I had some 3/4 walnut and 6/4 maple which I glued up with a 2" chunk of steel on top to press it together. I sanded it with mineral oil (ala Carl Jacobson ) and used Mylands friction finish which my wife likes.
Given the response it looks like I need to make a press of some sort to glue up blanks because some of her friends are asking if I will sell some.
