finished up a rocker , this was a reunion raffle rocker i donated to my old plant where i use to work , a friend Mary had won this, it was months ago and i had a display model there one made for display and had told her this a folding rocker was the model rocker but had run behind and the one would be finished and could swap later,to use it the rocker as it would be a few month before i got caught up ,she was so proud of it and happy said this was first time of winning in a long time , had told her you will love the cherry one , a few months passed Mary was called home before i got it finished , but this will go to her family , had talked to one of her son and asked did he mind if i made a few modification and he said he thought she would love it , her grand-kids called her ’’NANA’’ , so a local carver added that to the back and really dressed up the front with a Fleur-de-lis he did a awesome job,as she was a big New Orleans Saints fan ,it turned out well ,i had posted the ruff build and got some orders for some more of them they all asked for the NANA rocker told them i didn’t know what that was ,then came around to what they were talking about , guess thats what they are now ,in memorie of a good friend and co worker and good union Rep. , RIP Mary see you on the other side and yes it is really nice a few flaws but it add character sorry for the pics a photographer im not. the last pic is the one she and her son took home from the raffle drawing the rest are the cherry one , theses plans for this rocker were got from Lee Valley ,http://www.leevalley.com/US/Home.aspx ...................................the last pic was her with the rocker

Magnificent work, Eddie! The finish is marvelous, and I do really like cherry, strong and tight grained. You did yourself proud. And especially glad to know of the donation that led to this build. Good on’ya!

That is a beautiful rocker and a heartfelt story to go with it. Her family will treasure that forever. Hang in there my friend.

Very nice, Eddie. The carvings really make the rocker a standout!

Great rocker with an even better story, Eddie! Did you use the Lee Valley hardware? Only 14 bolts in the kit, seems like you have more than that. Thanks for sharing.
