Bloodwood Knife

A good friend and former roommate from college commissioned this knife after seeing a number of other knives I had made for friends. He picked out the blade and picked a really beautiful piece of bloodwood for the handle in anticipation of a working trip to France in the fall. This knife gave me a chance to use mosaic pins in the handle, which turned out great. After a ton of shaping and sanding, I finished the handles with several coats of a blend of mineral spirits and spar urethane. After some buffing and oiling, the knife was ready to go.

Comments, questions, suggestions, good jokes and all other manner of verbiage welcome.

Wow that is a beauty. Is that the natural color of the bloodwood with finish? It is very rich looking.

Thanks folks. Rob, that’s all natural bloodwood – it’s a really deep, beautiful color, and polishes up beautifully – I highly recommend it.

That is one fantastic knife. My only suggestion is that you keep making them.

Thanks again guys…Randy – I did make the sheath – definitely not a professional leatherworker, but I think I’ve got the basics down.
