Just a couple of projects done for the wife.

First is a simple paper towel holder out of hickory and done on the lathe. Nothing fancy, but it turned out nice with the beautiful grain pattern.

Second is a magnetic knife holder made from walnut. I used a tool holding magnet from harbor freight. I hollowed out a mortise using my drill press and chisels. Then I used a router plane to get the depth to within about 1/16th” from breaking through the other side so there would be very little wood interfering with the magnet. Works quite well and holds the knives firmly.

Thanks for looking!

I like the knife holder. Looks very modern and classy. Towel holder has some nice grain pattern.

I LOVE WALNUT!! And that hickory base is gorgeous!!

Great products!! My wife wanted one of those knife holders like that but I just don’t have a good place to put one with my kitchen arrangement.

Hickory and Walnut are two of my favs. Both projects look great. Hiding the magnet behind the knife holder is a really good idea. Well done

Good stuff. Paper towel holder has been on my to-do list for a while now. Maybe this weekend I’ll make one………. Maybe.
