The bed was based on a plan my wife found on Shanty-2-Chic, but modified a bit. In particular, I added brackets that allow mine to be disassembled, instead of assembling the rails with screws.
For the nightstands, I couldn’t find any plans to suit what I was looking for, so I made up my own. As usual, there are a number of things I would do differently if I had it to do over, but my wife was happy with them, so that’s what counts! Both of these were built before I equipped my shop with a table saw, so a lot of the design decisions were based on what I could do with standard dimensional lumber and plywood. Both are sprayed with a Sherwin Williams Pro Classic paint.

Very nice, I really like the bed. Yours came out looking a lot nicer than the Shanty chic one.

Ha! Thanks. I have to say, I wasn’t a fan of their final product either, but I looked at the plan and the basic design seemed reasonable. Also, the paint helps cover a multitude of woodworking sins. :)
Have your say...
