As a natural extension of the rollover rim design I posted a while back, I wondered if I could make a winged box on a Ringmaster. This is what I came up with. These started life as 11” black walnut disks and ended up as you see them.

I’ve never seen anything like this from a Ringmaster so maybe I’ve started something new. If anyone has seen something like this before, please point me to where you saw it. I’m always looking for inspiration.

All comments and critiques welcomed and thanx for looking.

Very nice project, Really pushing the ringmaster to its limits. I am really interested in what this process can do. I have bought the cutters awhile back and plan to mount them on the compound rest of my metal lathe. Hope to see more comments on this project as it is really outside the box. Thanks for the inspiration.

I never saw that before, the ringmaster system. It is a beautiful box. Do you also have a traditional lathe?

Thanx for the nice comments, guys. I always seem to be just a bit different from the rest of the crowd.

Snowdog – Hey cousin. Yes I do have a traditional lathe. That’s how I turned the finials. First time doing traditional turning for a looooong time. The Ringmaster I have mounts to my Shopsmith lathe.

Peterford – Pop over to and peruse the Tutorial forum. I have a tutorial about the rollover rim bowls and will be doing another one on this box. There are more pics on the Ringmaster forum also.
